The Genesis Process
Have you ever known what you should do, genuinely wanted to change—and still found yourself repeating the same emotional or behavioral pattern? That's the question The Genesis Process helps you begin to answer. The Genesis Process is a faith-based approach designed to help uncover the emotional wounds, false beliefs, protective behaviors, and unhealthy patterns that can keep you stuck. Rather than focusing only on changing what you do, we begin exploring why the pattern is there in the first place. As those deeper roots become clearer, you can begin developing healthier responses, renewing your thinking with biblical truth, and moving toward greater emotional and spiritual freedom.

The Genesis Hope Formula
One of the foundational concepts within The Genesis Process is the Genesis Hope Formula. It illustrates the relationship between hope, change, risk, and faith—and why meaningful change often requires us to move beyond what feels familiar.
Hope Comes from Change
Hope begins to grow when you start seeing that change is actually possible.
Change Comes from Risk
Change requires doing something different—even when the healthier choice feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
Risk Comes from Faith
Faith gives us courage to move forward when we cannot guarantee the outcome.
Faith Gives You Hope
As you begin taking healthier steps and experiencing change, hope grows and strengthens your willingness to continue.
This doesn't mean taking reckless risks or forcing yourself into situations you're not ready for. It means learning to take healthy steps toward change while trusting God in the process.
Sometimes that first step is simply becoming willing to look honestly at what's keeping you stuck.
How the Genesis Process
Works in Counseling
The Genesis Process isn't about completing a workbook as quickly as possible. It's a guided process of beginning to understand yourself differently.
As we work together, we'll look at the struggles you're experiencing today while also exploring the experiences, relationships, beliefs, and emotional wounds that may be connected to them.
You may begin noticing patterns you hadn't recognized before:
What triggers me?
What happens emotionally before I fall back into an unhealthy response?
What am I believing about myself in that moment?
What am I trying to protect myself from or cope with?
Tools within The Genesis Process, including the FASTER Scale, can help you recognize emotional and behavioral warning signs earlier so you can begin making healthier choices before automatically returning to an old pattern.
Biblical truth, prayer, and your relationship with God are integrated naturally throughout the process.
Through the process, you can begin developing:
-
A clearer understanding of why certain emotional and behavioral patterns keep repeating
-
Greater awareness of triggers and warning signs
-
The ability to identify and challenge false beliefs
-
Healthier ways of responding to difficult emotions
-
Greater understanding of protective and coping behaviors
-
Practical tools for developing healthier patterns
-
A stronger understanding of your identity in Christ
-
Greater hope that meaningful change is possible
Why The Genesis Process
is Personal to Me
I don't teach The Genesis Process simply because I've been trained in it.
I've experienced it personally.
I first encountered The Genesis Process in 2007 during a season when unresolved emotional pain was affecting the way I responded to life and the people around me.
As I walked through the process, I began recognizing roots underneath struggles I hadn't fully understood. I saw connections between emotional wounds, beliefs, triggers, and behaviors—and began experiencing meaningful change in areas where simply knowing what I should do hadn't been enough.
The transformation became noticeable to the people closest to me. My husband saw the changes taking place and eventually encouraged us to introduce The Genesis Process within our church community.
That began a journey that has now included more than 15 years of helping women walk through The Genesis Process.
It's one reason I'm passionate about root-level healing today.
I know what it feels like to love God and still have places in your life that don't seem to line up with what you believe.
And I also know the hope that comes when you begin understanding what's underneath those struggles and invite God into the healing process.

What You'll Explore Through The Genesis Process?
The Genesis Process uses structured exercises and guided conversations to help you connect what you're experiencing today with what's happening underneath it.
As you move through the process, we'll explore areas such as:
-
Emotional wounds and significant experiences
-
False beliefs about yourself, others, and God
-
Triggers and emotional responses
-
Protective behaviors and coping strategies
-
Relationship patterns
-
Unhealthy or self-defeating behaviors
-
Shame and identity
-
Boundaries
-
Relapse patterns and warning signs
-
Healthier ways of responding
You'll use structured workbook exercises between sessions to help deepen what we're exploring together.
The workbook is a tool—not the counseling itself.
We'll use what you're discovering through the exercises to guide deeper conversations, identify patterns, and determine where healing and change may be needed.
